Black Page Ring

Welcome to the Black Page webring! This ring is devoted to those who utilize (and prefer) web design that features light-colored text on dark-colored backgrounds. It is our hope that by educating people about the advantages of black-based design, we can be a force for positive change on the web.

Why black? There are several reasons. Perhaps the most important is helping to reduce eyestrain for computer users, which will translate into long-term benefits and reduce pain. Other reasons include saving energy and utilizing the inherent properties of computer-generated illumination. Click here to learn more about these principles.

On this page you will find information about joining the BPR, as well as some useful web design links. Thanks for visiting!

About The BPR

There are many people out there on the web who are creating black-based pages. However, there doesn't seem to be a "united front" trying to educate others and spread the word about the advantages of this approach to web design.

Because black-based design is still mostly confined to the "do it yourself" camp, this web ring runs without the benefit of any ring server. For those of you not familiar with this concept, this is the way web rings were originally designed to work. There are no fancy scripts to select a random site, nothing too flashy. Just a resource to allow people with similar ideas to increase traffic to their sites and knowledge to the public.

Join The BPR

To be eligible to join the Black Page Ring, your web site must:

Joining the Black Page Ring is easy! If your page meets the requirements, you simply drop an email asking to join. Someone will visit your page to verify that it meets the requirements. Once that happens, you'll receive an email containing your Site ID and a block of HTML code to be placed on your main page. An example of that block is below.

Why is this page black, anyway?

Receiving your confirmation email means that you are offcially a member of the BPR. In a week or so, someone will check back to make sure that you have our code block properly installed.
